**PTA/SLT Elections were held prior to the PTA meeting. Please see separated minutes for this portion of the meeting.**

Lilith Dollard, co-secretary opened the meeting. All other board members, except Brian Binsack were present.

Mr. Beugoms gave the Principal’s Address

·         There are a lot of events coming up from now until the end of the school year. Mr. B encouraged all families to look at the school calendar for more information.

Treasurer Report:

·         Jolie shared the monthly Treasurer Report. (details of this can be found in the slideshow)

New Business:

·         Budget for the 23-24 school year was presented.

Enrichments

  • LEGO Robotics will be incorporated into STEM classes so that is no longer a PTA-funded enrichment

  • Expanded Marquis Dance for more grades (Pre-K- 4th grade) and ballroom dance for 5th grade

  • Added chess for grades 1-5, based on the popularity of chess after-school. This will be taught by ICN, the coaches who run the after-school chess program. This chess class will be free and during the school day for all students in those grades.

  • Added a line for extracurricular program support, this can be used for costs like Debate team t-shirts and supplies, expanding the Girls on the Run program, and any other extracurriculars that come up.

 

School Support and Community Building

  • Increased funds for parent & community events

  • Added supply expenses for cluster teachers as they build out classrooms/programs

  • Increased funds for teacher expenses (up to $150 per teacher)

  • Increased funds for teacher and staff appreciation

 

Polish Language Book Order:

·         PS34 received a generous grant of $5,000 from the Pulaski Businessmen Association to support the purchase of Polish Language student textbooks.

·         PS34 school is unable to purchase the Polish language books directly from the Polish publishers (b/c DOE won’t allow wire transfer to Poland)

·         PS34 is requesting the PTA wire the funds (about $3,300) for the book order and the school will immediately reimburse the PTA

·         PTA approves/agrees with this plan in order to ensure our DL students have the learning materials they need

 

Art Party Update:

·         Ticket sales- $5,825

·         Art auction- $9,568

·         Gift basket auction- $2,408

 

·         Total: $17,801

 

Upcoming Events

·         June 3rd: 3 Sisters Planting Event in the garden

·         June16th 4-7 Spring Fling/Dance

·         June- PTA Volunteer Thank You Picnic

 

Committee Updates:

·         Dual Language Committee: Kathy Kajosi discussed the West Point trip and the Polish Movie Night. Also made suggestions for other community events such as a Sip N Paint Night for parents in June.
