Diverse Books
The PS 34 PTA and Anti-racism/Cultural Awareness Committee have compiled a list of notable books that represent the various ways of being in our world. We hope these books will help guide the important conversations you are having with your children regarding racism, antisemitism, discrimination, and prejudice. These children’s books not only represent different cultures, languages, abilities, orientations, and religions; but they also give children the opportunity to see themselves represented in literature. Clicking on the image of each book will take you to the Amazon Affiliates* listing, but many of these books can be found at the Brooklyn Public Library and various local bookstores. If you are looking for books appropriate for adults, click here to view our anti-racism book list.
