Julia Kotowski opened the meeting. All executive board members were present.
Mr. Beugoms gave the Principal’s Address
· Mr B. discussed the potential of the PTA adding Reading A-Z to the budget for the school year. It would be available to students in K to 3rd grade. It gives students access to leveled books and supports the curriculum in class.
Upcoming Activities
· Social Sunday: Sunday October 23 3-6 @ Union Pool
· Halloween Photo Shoot: Pay What You Want photo fundraiser.
· Shop at Minted- You can use the code: FUNDRAISEPS34OLVERHPRY to receive %20 off and PS 34 receives %15 of the profits.
· Sign up for Amazon Smile for our school to receive a small percentage of your purchases from Amazon.
· Meet the PTA: Wednesday Oct 12th after drop off in the garden and Oct 18th after pickup in the Eckford Street Yard
· Fall Garden Fest: Sunday October 30 1-4
o Planting daffodil bulbs, crafts, learning about monarchs, bake sale, winter plant prep
o If you want to help the committee in the future they have a WhatsApp group
o They are looking to add to the McGuiness garden throughout the year.

Other Ways to Get Involved:
· Translation Services: Spanish and Polish- Help us translate our forms, letters, and flyers
· Letter/Grant Writing- Help us apply for government and private grants, help teachers create Donors Choose grants, etc
· Graphic Design- Help us create templates for flyers, social media, etc
· Tech Support- Assist teachers/students if they experience technology issues
· Marketing/Branding- Help brand our school identity by designing merch

Committee Updates:
· Gardening Committee: McGuiness Garden is almost finished. It is going to be a learning garden with native and fruit trees. It is extension of the STEM program and will be able to learn about it with Ms. Marshall.
· Wellness Committee
o There is a WhatsApp group for this committee.
o They will be working with the schools Wellness Team.
· Fundraising Committee
o Volunteers are needed for the Winter Auction, soliciting businesses for donations, entering information into the spreadsheet.
o Winter Auction is an online auction.
o Happening the middle of December.
o Donations can be physical donations or services.
o Anyone with the link will be able to bid on the auction.
Parent Coordinator Update
· Halloween Dress up Day: Monday October 31st
· Virtual Ask the Ranger: October 18th 4 pm (Look on ParentSquare for Zoom link)
· Picture Day October 24 and 28. All students will have their photos taken and then you can purchase the photo packages at a later date
· Parent Teacher Conference Thursday November 3rd
· Scholastic Book Fair: October 31st to November 4. Kids can either use cash or eWallet.
· Middle School Admissions Department of Education Virtual Event: October 27, 28, and November 1. PS 34 will also have their own event later on in the year.
· District 14 Showcase October 26th 3:30-6:00 @ Juan Morel
o Organized by Superintendent and local politicians
o All Elementary and Middle Schools will be represented.
Q & A
· Lilith went through the process of how to sign up for Amazon Smile.
· Silent Auction December 2nd through December 11th
· Elia O’Rourke offered to translate Spanish documents.
· Discussion about what the Dual Language committee will be doing
o Mr. B discusses the importance of the group and what it means to the school.
o There is a WhatsApp group
o Discussing the push for a 50/50 split in the program.
o Idea: Presenting Dual Language Programs in the public libraries to encourage participation.
o Polish Heritage Month October: Polish Bilingual Day
§ Name Day project to include the entire school.
§ Program by the Dual Language classes.
